What’s the buzz with antioxidants?

Antioxidants are an essential component of a healthy diet. They are known to slow aging, reduce inflammation and even prevent coronary heart disease and cancer. Today, antioxidants are an active topic of research and thousands of foods were already tested for their antioxidant level. With antioxidants, the more the healthier. So where can one find them?

Antioxidants are abundant in plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, whole grains and spices. In each of these food groups respectively, the best sources of antioxidants are berries, kale, pecans, black beans, red rice, cinnamon and cocoa powder. So yes, dark chocolate is fine sometimes!

Antioxidants are also available in beverages. In fact, out of 283 beverages tested, hibiscus tea is by far the best source of antioxidants.

Great video on the power of antioxidants, and how to easily ingest more. My favorite is tea made with cloves and ginger.
